A man accused of shooting a woman in Norfolk has waived his preliminary hearing in Madison County Court.
34-year-old Carlos Arevalo-Martinez appeared in court on Tuesday and waived the hearing on charges of first-degree assault and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
His case was bound over to district court for arraignment on March 16.
Arevalo-Martinez is accused of shooting 33-year-old Edna Gutierrez on Feb. 14. Gutierrez, who was shot in the head, survived and was hospitalized in Omaha.
Arevalo-Martinez was taken into custody after a standoff with police in Stanton on Feb. 16. He remains in jail on $1 million bond.
