A Gage County livestock operation has reached a settlement with the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality.
The DEQ says Waldo Farms operated a building and waste control
system without a state permit for a nine months, beginning in March
last year.
The DEQ is assessing a civil penalty of $37,500 against Waldo
Farms. Of the total, $7,500 is to be paid within 10 days.
The remaining $30,000 is supposed to be paid within 180 days.
But that can be waived if Waldo Farms complies with the Nebraska
Environmental Protection Act within the 180 days.
Waldo Farms is not required to admit any wrongdoing as part of
the settlement.
