Farmers in SW Neb. County Eligible for Storm Aid

Farmers and ranchers in one southwest Nebraska county may qualify for federal aid if they suffered losses from an August storm.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Monday that it has designated Dundy County, Neb., as a federal disaster area because of storms that struck the area Aug. 8-10.

The disaster declaration includes seven counties in Kansas and two in Colorado, in addition to Dundy County.

The counties were all declared natural disaster areas on Oct. 27, which qualifies farm operators for low-interest loans to help them recover.

Farmers have eight months to apply from the date of the declaration.
