Nebraska feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more head contained 2.21 million cattle on feed as of Oct. 1.

The Nebraska Field Office of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service says the inventory was down slightly from 2010.

Placements in feedlots during September totaled 560,000 head, up 4 percent from last year.

Marketings of fed cattle during September totaled 350,000 head, down 3 percent from 2010.
