The manager of an apartment complex in the Nebraska Panhandle has won national recognition for her work.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development office named Laura Nielsen of Ogallala its site manager of the year.

The USDA says Nielsen has managed the Ogallala Housing Authority Apartments for 20 years with dedication and a caring manner.

The award recognizes the success of the complex that Nielsen manages.

The apartments receive USDA financing.

Nielsen recently traveled to Washington, DC for an awards ceremony, and she will be honored in Ogallala on July 6.
