A Nebraska couple will get to take a free trip to Hawaii in January because of their ranching success and commitment to the community.
The Nebraska Farm Bureau recently gave Nick and Kati Ladenburger, of Stratton, the group's 2011 Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award. That comes with the Hawaii trip and $500 cash.
The Ladenburgers own about 950 acres and rent 700 more that they use for pasture and to raise corn and wheat.
But they work with family members who also farm in the area to make good use of their resources. The cooperation allows the Ladenburgers to have access to better equipment.
Both of the Ladenburgers have served the Hitchcock County Farm
Bureau.
