Greg Poe is coming to the Defenders of Freedom Air Show at Offutt AFB Saturday and Sunday. Greg is a former test pilot and aerobatic champion, and he flies a very unique aircraft. The Ethanol Powered Fagen MX2 is the only aircraft of its kind in the world.

Greg puts the Fagen MX2 through unbelievable gyroscopic maneuvers during his performance; pulling up to 12 G’s tumbling the aircraft end over end in a dazzling display of energy and precision. Greg is a veteran of over 20 years on the airshow circuit.

Poe, a world famous pilot and one of the most skilled on the air show circuit, has been chosen for several nationally televised air show freestyle competitions. He placed 2nd in the World Free Style Sport Flying Championships in 1999 and 3rd in the World Aerobatic Federation contest in 2000. He has been featured in such television programs as Modern Marvels, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, The Discovery Channel, NBC News, ABC News, CBS news, FOX sports, ESPN, CNN and recently finished filming for the Superhuman Series, airing on History Channel HD this fall.

Greg Poe is also generating national interest with his Elevate Your Life Program, a motivational youth outreach effort presented to school-age children to encourage them to reach for their dreams! Elevate Your Life, the action arm of the Ryan J. Poe Foundation, is a vision that Greg began pursuing after losing his teenage son Ryan to heroin addiction. An accomplished speaker, Greg travels to schools and youth organizations all over the U.S., making a dynamic multimedia presentation of his aerial exploits and showing his example of how a country boy from Idaho has reached the skies and beyond through hard work and dedication to a dream.

The annual open house and air show, free and open to the public, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Bellevue. For more information, call 402-232-8787.

Apparently MX is a specialty aircraft manufacturer, making sports, aerobatic and race planes. MX2 is the two seat version and MXS is standard. Fagen is a separate company that designs and constructs things like ethanol plants, and of course has projects with other ethanol industry entities as mentioned in an earlier post. It will be some close to crowd stunts that would be illegal outside an airshow.

This sounds like a press release from ConAgra or ADM. It's an existing plane with an internal combustion engine; what's so revolutionary about that? I think the F-35 will wow them a lot more.
