Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning said a Hall County man pleaded guilty this week to stealing more than $28,000 from a 94-year-old woman he served as guardian for.
Forty-two-year-old Russell Supencheck could be sentenced up to five years in prison for knowing and intentional abuse of a vulnerable adult. He pleaded guilty Jan. 31.
Supencheck was the guardian and had power of attorney for Florence Wells.
Bruning says Supencheck stole from Wells by taking out loans on the equity of her house, and he used Wells' credit card. Supencheck also withdrew money from Well's bank account.
Bruning's Medicaid fraud unit investigated the case after the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services reported concerns.
