Republican gubernatorial candidate Dave Nabity says Nebraska should call on the federal government for help solving the state's water problem.
Nabity says diverting water from Nebraska's aquifers should also be considered to help the state comply with a multistate compact.
Nabity says current proposed solutions to the state's water problems unfairly target irrigators and show a lack of creativity by state government bureaucrats.
He is seeking the Republican nomination against Governor Dave Heineman and Congressman Tom Osborne.
Nabity says he developed his water policy after talking with farmers, irrigators and others in the Nebraska panhandle and southwest corner.
If elected, Nabity says he would be Nebraska's "Water Governor."
