The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the State Capitol Rotunda is scheduled for Sunday, but a lot of work goes into just getting the tree in the building.

This year's tree is a 30-foot blue spruce. Getting a tree that large into the capitol is quite a challenge. There is only one way to get it into the building, and that is by squeezing it through the doorway at the top of the north steps. It took more than 30 workers about an hour Tuesday to scrunch the tree down and wedge it in before it could take its place in the rotunda.

This year's Christmas tree was donated by Ray and Ruby Urban of Malmo, Nebraska.
