Closing Arguments Expected in Sandoval Case

Closing arguments are expected today in the sentencing phase for convicted killed Jose Sandoval in last year's Norfolk bank slayings.

A jury found Sandoval guilty last week of five counts of first-degree murder. That same jury heard two days of evidence on whether the case merits the death penalty.

The jury will decide whether circumstances of the case against Sandoval warrant putting him on death row. A three-judge panel would hand down a final sentence.

Monday’s hearing included a forensic pathologist who performed the autopsies on shooting victims Evonne Tuttle, Sam Sun, Jo Mausbach, Lola Elwood and Lisa Bryant.

Defense attorney Harry Moore rested his case without submitting any evidence or calling any witnesses.
