A 22-year-old Lincoln man died over the weekend when his sport utility vehicle was struck by a train at Loveland, Iowa.

Tyler Payzamp of Lincoln died in the late night accident Saturday. Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker in Iowa says that Payzamp's SUV was parked on railroad tracks when a Union Pacific Railroad train hit the vehicle.

Investigators say the train's engineer sounded his horn and applied the engine's emergency break when he spotted the SUV.

Payzamp was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown why Payzamp's vehicle was on the tracts and did not move. The Iowa State Patrol and the sheriff's office are investigating.
