Nebraska lottery has seen an increase in sales over the years, but unlike some states who are reporting drastic increases in tickets sold and putting the blame on the economy, Nebraska Lottery attributes it's growth to better inventory, better games, and stronger promotions and advertising.

"Between scratch and lotto, both our total sales are up over a million dollars from a year ago," said Director of Nebraska Lottery Marketing and Communications, Brian Rockey.

Rockey says the department is working with the Division of Travel and Tourism to promote Nebraska through a $2 new game called 'Nebraska 101'.
Nebraska 101 features six Nebraska trip prizes as well as cash prizes.
Each of the six vacation winners can choose a trip from a from 11 different vacation packages arranged for and provided by the Division of Travel and Tourism to destinations across the state.

In a press release, Rockey stated, "We're really excited about the game, both because of its statewide ties and partnership with Travel and Tourism, and we think it represents a great value. Last year, staycations were a hot topic because of fuel prices and this year we hear about the overall economy affecting vacation plans."

According to Rockey, only half of Americans plan to travel this summer and of those with plans, nearly 52% say they are adjusting their plans due to the economic recession.
