Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler decided to push Lincoln's fireworks display set for Friday, July 3rd, to Sunday, July 5th due to rain storms in the Capital City area.

Scheduling for Sunday's fireworks display is as follows at Lincoln's Oak Lake Park:

9:15 p.m. - Lincoln Symphony Orchestra begins free patriotic concert.

10:00 p.m. - 22-minute fireworks display choreographed to LSO music begins.

According to an aide with Mayor Beutler's office, audience safety was a concern.

For now, no other activities are scheduled besides the fireworks display.

OMG People! Seriously! You are talking about FIREWORKS. So they got moved to another day, boohoo. So now because the fireworks show was moved that means Lincoln is no longer a free city or no independance?? GET OVER IT. And AMEN to Veteran!!!!

THIS IS FOR BETTY. BETTY YOU WAS YOUNG ONCE. GIVE THE YOUNG KIDS AND FAMILY'S THERE TIME TO MAKE MEMORIES JUST LIKE YOU HAVE WITH YOUR FAMILY MEMORIES,I'T DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE GREAT MEMORIES ON THE 4TH BUT YOU HAVE FAMILY MEMORIES OF SOME HOLIDAYS AND PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE YOUR HOLIDAY THAT YOU LIKE TO CELEBATE IT COULD BE YOU GO OUT AND EAT WITH YOUR FAMILY BIG OR SMALL YOU COULD GET LOUDER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE AND YOUR BROTHERING SOMEONE SO LETS GIVE PEOPLE A BREAK.

Yes, Lucy, can YOU find anything else to complain about? Quit blaming the "ritzy" elitists of South Lincoln for your misplaced anger.

I agree with Veteran . . . when did fireworks become the only thing 4th of July stands for?! If fireworks were that highly important and stand for only July 4th then we would only be able to light them July 4th! Please stop arguing about fireworks and take the little amount of time it takes to go thank one of your local Veterans sitting in a nursing home right now! I know many Veterans that don't even like fireworks because it reminds them of the battle field . . . my grandfather is one of them because he happened to get shot and went missing for several days while fightning for you people! P.S. next year go out and buy your own fireworks if they are of that much importance to your 4th of July!

In reference to keeping the event at Oak lake rather than returning it to Holmes lake: it's just another promise from the city unkept.

Despite all of the negative comments and ideas everyone has the show was great last night.

Can people find anything else to complain about? As Jenny said, get off Dans' back about the show. It was the city's decision to move the fireworks-not his. As far as Shelli-I highly doubt your 7 year old really asked you that. Lincoln is still a great community to raise kids. But if you don't think so-then move to New York City, or LA, then maybe you would get a wake up call. And thanks to Nebraska weather-you never know what may happen. It was crappy and misting out on the 4th anyway-so chances are it would have been moved to Sunday anyway. And as far as being at Holmes Lake--WHY?? So the south side of town can say they have the fireworks? For one, most people probably don't care. For another, the north side should have something. Oak Lake is a nice place. It has a nice park, places to walk, picnic. Leave it there and give the north side something. The ritzy people can't have everything.

They roads are crappy anyway. They should have just did the fireworks on the fourth after the "cable guy" show. Why didn't anybody think of that? Because it would have made sense. Everybody in the city must be idiots!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jordan...I suppose you think Freedom is free...

If it went back to holmes lake, there would be less people rubbernecking from the interstate.

Okay everyone do you just complain about anything and everything...Listen its moved and there isn't anything you can do about it..So how about you just go on living your life's and forget about it..Not everything in there world goes just as planned... and Larry brought in more money then this firework thing is going to..and the money is what this town thinks about...If the town didn't have the money you would just complain that the road and stuff were crappy...you people just complain about everything..

Independence Day isn't fire works, that is what we do to celebrate. I celebrate all week end. At the VFW, the VFD, Church, cemetary and with my family Sunday night watching the the fire works. I think of the better generations then ours, that came before us so we could complain. Be sure you fly your flag and watch the first 15 min of saving Private Ryan. We all owe it to them. "Over"

i can understand rescheduling for the rain but not larry. then they schedule it for the 5th but keep the ban for the normal population from doing our fireworks for the same day i think where as they screwed up the fourth they should at least allow us to have the extra day for our fireworks also. If the City of Lincoln gets to shoot off fireworks tonight so should Lincoln residence.

As a resident within line of sight of Holmes Lake Park, I hope they NEVER bring the fireworks show back here. We're happy to go elsewhere to watch it, if that's all we have to do in order to not have our subdivision's streets jam-packed with drunken partiers (and their litter) on the 4th (or whatever day they pick for the display).
