Dozens of people lined the steps of the State Capitol Friday to "re-declare independence from out of control government spending." The group "Grassroots in Nebraska" organized the rally Friday afternoon.
Using signs and chants to express frustration over recent bailouts, stimulus bills, and what they call private sector intrusion through legislation like health care reform.
"We have a lot of money in circulation, we're borrowing a lot and spending too much, federal government is getting out of control and we really haven't paid much attention to the local, like the state level, county or city even," said Shelli Dawdy, event organizer.
Dawdy says many of the rally attendees believe the government has grown beyond it's originally intended size and power.
