Despite the cooler temperatures and wet weather Nebraskans saw for the 4th of July weekend, Lincoln Police say fireworks disturbance calls were up, compared to last year.
Officer Katie Flood says in 2008, LPD received 334 fireworks-related disturbance calls between July 1 and July 5.
In 2009, LPD received 377 calls.
Flood says four citations were handed out for possession or sale of illegal fireworks.
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner reported a damaged mailbox near 148th and Branched Oak Road, after a firework was placed inside.
