Authorities say speed and alcohol were factors in the fatal crash of a motorcyclist near Murdock in eastern Nebraska.
A news release from the office of Cass County Sheriff Bill Brueggemann on Monday said rescuers were called to the accident near Murdock around 8 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies say a Harley-Davidson driven by 48-year-old David Dillon of Eagle went out of control on state Highway 1. The motorcycle crossed the roadway into a ditch, where he was thrown.
Dillon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The release said Dillon's helmet did not appear to meet U.S. Department of Transportation certification standards for crash protection.
