Lincoln police are focusing on a string of vandalism cases.

Authorities say someone "keyed" several vehicles in the northwest part of town earlier this week, and as you might imagine, the vehicle owners are frustrated.

Marjorie Brockman says both her car and her husband's truck got "keyed" by vandals sometime during the early morning hours of July 6th. "I'm not sure when it happened," Brockman says. "But the neighbor over here said that her light went on outside about midnight, but they didn't see anybody."

Not only did the vandals scratch the front hood of her husband's truck, Marjorie says they scratched the side of her red PT Crusier, and finished it off by scratching the letter "H" on the hood of her car. Police say several of her neighbors found the letter "H" on their vehicles.

"My husband went down someplace and got some red paint so most of that is covered now," Brockman says. "It doesn't look too bad, you can see the H up there, so I hope that gives them a clue and they can find out who did it."

The Brockman's aren't the only ones to become victims of a "keying" incident on West Fairfield street. Police say there were 10 incidents on the street in just one night.

The damage estimates in these vandalism cases are now around $7,000. Authorities say, be sure to call police if you ever see suspicious activity.

"We had a case just over the weekend where someone heard some noise outside, and we were actually able to come into the area and discover that some teenagers were breaking mailboxes," LPD officer Tim Abele says. "It's because that one person called in on that suspicious activity we were able to solve that crime relatively quickly. So make sure that you always call in on that suspicious activity."

Marjorie Brockman hopes the recent vandalism cases are solved quickly. "I hope they catch them, because they need some kind of punishment," Brockman says.
