Several hundred jobs will be lost as Tyson Foods modernizes its meatpacking plant in Dakota City.
The plant employees about 4,000 people and is the largest employer in the area.
Company spokesman Gary Mickelson says an 84,500 square foot addition to the plant will house a new processing operation, a cooler and loading docks.
