The owner of an Omaha adult novelty store is out of jail after serving six months for selling obscene materials.
John Haltom is the owner of Doctor John's adult novelty store. He was released Thursday from the Douglas County Correctional Center.
Haltom has paid a one thousand dollar fine. He received early release from his nine-month sentence for good behavior.
Prosecutors argued that Haltom sold explicit videos that went beyond community standards under state obscenity laws.
A jury convicted Haltom in July 2000. The Nebraska Supreme Court last year upheld his jail sentence.
Haltom twice had been fined one thousand dollars on two other counts of selling obscene material.
Haltom also has stores in Scottsbluff, Lincoln, Grand Island and Salt Lake City. In October, the Scotts Bluff County Attorney's Office filed a complaint charging Haltom with distributing obscene videos from his Scottsbluff store.
