A Nebraska farmer is trying to create the largest corn maze ever built and set a new world record in the process.
Wayne Benson is working on a 54.428-acre maze at his farm near Denton, Neb., which is southwest of Lincoln.
Benson's maze will include four different paths of varying difficulty.
The record attempt is sponsored by Verizon Wireless, and the maze will be cut in a pattern depicting the cell phone company's test man with Verizon's logo and slogan.
Benson has been talking with officials at the Guinness Book of World Records about proving his maze is the largest ever. The current record is held by a 40.489-acre corn maze built in Dixon, Calif., in 2007.
The maze will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 25 to Nov. 1.
