More Cuts Possible for UNL

A tax policy panel had bad news for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents this weekend. More budget cuts are likely to higher education.

The panel was made up of two state lawmakers, a professor and an accountant. It told regents on Saturday that while the state's budget crunch continues, tax increases are not likely.

The University's four-campus system has faced nearly $40 million in state budget cuts in the past two years.

John Bartle is a University of Nebraska at Omaha public administration professor. He cited a national higher education report that forecasts a continued lack of state funding for universities.
