Omaha Senator Ernie Chambers says he will introduce a bill to repeal LB 775 because no one else will.

Chambers also signed the petition to repeal the big business tax break program.

Chambers says he objects to the law because it shifts the tax burden from big businesses to others. And he says the jobs created by those companies are not high paying.

He says it is not fair that beneficiaries of the law have escaped budget cuts that have impacted almost all other parts of the state the past couple of years.

Past attempts in the Legislature to repeal the program have withered under fierce resistance from the business lobby.

Backers of LB 775 say it has improved the state's economy by creating new jobs and increased tax revenue.

They argue that repealing the law will put Nebraska at a disadvantage with other states in attracting businesses looking to expand or locate.
