The Lincoln bomb squad was called out to the Lincoln airport around 9:30 Wednesday morning.
An airport employee conducting a routine walk thru of the parking garage spotted a unattended suitcase in the stairwell. Lincoln Chief Fire Inspector Bill Moody says the airport security did try to diagnose the suitcase, and it warranted the bomb squad to respond to the scene. The bomb squad did deem the package safe.
For the most part, passengers inside the terminal waiting for flights had no idea what was happening outside.
John Wood the airport authority's director says passengers were not notified about the situation. Wood says they believed the terminal was a safe distance away from the garage should anything happen.
