A 19-year-old Scottsbluff man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of a man involved in a minor traffic accident.
Scottsbluff police responded to a report of an accident around 10 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found one person involved in the accident, 20-year-old James Mendoza, had been assaulted.
Mendoza was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy has been ordered.
Authorities say 19-year-old Artie William Lowery was arrested Monday afternoon on suspicion of murder and weapons charges. Police also arrested 20-year-old Joseph Lowery, 17-year-old Rozlyn Lowery and a 14-year-old girl on suspicion of being accessories to a felony.
