Houston Nutt will not be coming to Nebraska.
Nutt announced Saturday that he would continue to coach at the University of Arkansas.
Friday, the University of Nebraska offered Nutt $2.5 million to take over the Cornhuskers football program, but family ties and a Razorbacks counteroffer kept Nutt from a quick decision.
If Nutt took the Nebraska job, the coach would have more than doubled his salary and became part of an athletic program that is one-third larger than that at Arkansas.
However with the choice to remain with the Razorbacks, Nutt remains close to his Arkansas roots and enjoys a pay raise negotiated Friday during a 15-minute telephone call with Broyles. Broyles wouldn't say how much Nutt could get above his current $800,000 package.
