A former Adams County treasurer has admitted scheming to avoid paying taxes on a motor home.
Attorney General Jon Bruning said Tuesday that Julia Moeller pleaded no contest to tax evasion and official misconduct.
Julia Moeller was charged last year with tax evasion, official misconduct and abuse of public records in connection with a motor home registration. She resigned as treasurer in January.
The Nebraska State Patrol found that Moeller illegally registered a motor home outside the state and had her daughter -- who worked in her office at the time -- help falsify records to evade paying $4,000 in Nebraska sales tax.
Moeller is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 6. She faces up to 5 1/2 years in prison.
