Another legislative session brings concerns about more possible state budget cuts that could affect the University of Nebraska system.
Kearney campus Chancellor and former Speaker of the Legislature Doug Kristensen says there are very difficult decisions to face. He says the university cannot go down further in cuts. He says more cuts could chase students away.
Kristensen says there is a need to find other ways to fund the university if the state would not. He says two options under consideration would hurt in recruiting rural students to the Kearney school. He says one is raising tuition and the other is capping the number of students who are accepted.
