Ron Ross wasted no time taking over as Treasurer for Lorelee Byrd. Even before he officially taking office Ross fired Deputy Treasurer Mary Brock.

“I need to bring in my own deputy and we need to work with the rest of the employees. I just feel it’s time for a fresh start,” Ross said.

Ross added that a few more employees could be fired.

Ross is a native Nebraskan and spent five years as Director of Health and Human Services.

Byrd plead guilty in December to a misdemeanor charge of misuse of office.

The state patrol released a report detailing charges against Lorelee Byrd. In the employees say she was abusive and that she retaliated against those who cooperated with the investigation.
