The next candidate for the Nebraska head football-coaching job is former Oakland Raiders coach Bill Callahan.

Only a week after his firing, Callahan will interview at Nebraska Wednesday, Gary O'Hagan, Callahan's agent, said.

"It would be a perfect fit. A high-character institution with a high character coach," O'Hagan said.

The Cornhuskers have been looking for a coach since Frank Solich was fired Nov. 29.

Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer broke off negotiations with Nebraska athletic director Steve Pederson Tuesday.

Arkansas coach Houston Nutt and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders previously rejected offers from the Huskers.
