Woman Killed in Head on Collision

An 85-year-old woman was killed Monday in a head on collision in Omaha.

According to witnesses' reports to Omaha police, Josie Vigil was driving the wrong way on the northbound lanes of Interstate 680 at about 1:30 p.m. when her car collided with a pickup truck about 300 yards south of Irvington Road.

Vigil was announced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver of the truck, 31-year-old Kevin Peitzmeier was transported to Creighton Medical Center with a serious leg injury.

No one was listed as registered under Peitzmeier's name at the medical center Monday evening.

Vigil's death is the sixth this year on Nebraska highways and roads.
