A state senator wants legislative staff to review the investigative report into former State Treasurer Lorelee Byrd.
Lincoln Senator Chris Beutler says the public needs to be assured that no additional investigation is needed and that no further action is required.
Beutler says the review should include what laws, if any, should be changed, and whether Byrd's decision to break the law was shared with anyone else.
No one other than Byrd was charged by Attorney General Jon Bruning following the three-month investigation.
One of the first things newly appointed Treasurer Ron Ross did was fire four top-ranking people in the office, including Byrd's deputy.
Beutler sent a letter Wednesday to the Legislature's Executive Board asking the staff be assigned to review the report.
Byrd resigned earlier this month after pleading guilty to misconduct in office.
