Solich Speaks Out for First Time After Firing

Frank Solich said in his first interview since losing his job that he thought the Nebraska football team was moving in the right direction when he was fired.

Speaking on ESPN's Outside the Lines program, Solich said his nine-and-three record this past regular season said a lot.

"What I tried to do was block out all distractions, and that meant not being concerned about what anybody felt about this football team, other than the players, myself and the coaches on this football team. If we felt good about what was happening, the direction it was going, then I felt good about it," Solich said.

"It's going to be viewed differently by different people. Of course, when you're involved in athletics, the A.D. (Athletic Director) makes the call."

Solich said it's only right that expectations are high at Nebraska.

Solich declined to comment on the matter in which he was fired, and said it's possible he never will.
