Authorities say they've found the knife used in the stabbing death of a Scottsbluff man.
The knife was found in an open field in northwest Scottsbluff on Wednesday evening. Police say tests will be done to determine whether it was used to kill 20-year-old James Mendoza.
Mendoza was found next to his vehicle near the Scottsbluff skate park on Aug. 31. He was taken to local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Artie William Lowery has been charged with second-degree murder and felony use of a weapon in Mendoza's death. The 19-year-old is being held in the Scotts Bluff County jail on $250,000.
Lowery's wife and brother have been charged as accessories.
Lowery has said he acted in self-defense when Mendoza pulled a knife on him.
