A man from Hay Springs, Neb. was among three soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg who were killed this week when a roadside bomb exploded west of Baghdad.
The Department of Defense said Thursday that 26-year-old Sergeant Cory Mracek was among the paratroopers killed Tuesday.
The military said the soldiers were part of Joint Task Force Seven and supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Brigadier General Mark Kimmit said another Fort Bragg paratrooper was critically wounded in the attack on the 82nd Airborne Division convoy.
He said a rescue force that rushed to the scene came under small arms fire but suffered no casualties.
