The Diocese of Grand Island has released the findings of its internal audit on the number of reported child sexual abuse cases by priests. The diocese says it has had no reported cases since 1950.
The Reverend Mike McDermott says the diocese also is fully cooperating with church efforts to prevent abuse of children.
A national tally is being conducted of clerical sexual abuse cases in the Roman Catholic Church, but the results are not expected to identify individual dioceses. The national survey is scheduled for release on Feb. 27.
The Omaha Archdiocese has completed its survey but no decision has been made about releasing the information it has gathered. The Lincoln Diocese is refusing to participate in the study.
