Flags are flying at half-staff above Chadron City Hall Wednesday in honor on Army Sergeant Cory Mracek, who was killed in Iraq last week.
Gov. Mike Johanns issued a proclamation to permit the action on the day of the soldier's funeral.
The 26-year-old Mracek was born in Chadron and grew up in nearby Hay Springs. Chadron State College in playing host to Mracek's funeral services Wednesday afternoon.
Mracek was among three soldiers killed in Iraq last Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded west of Baghdad. He had been in Iraq just eight days.
Burial is at Gordon cemetery following services.
