The Nebraska State Patrol has surveillance video showing a prison escapee using a telephone inside a building on the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus.

Fifty-four-year-old Michael McGuire was serving time at the state prison in Tecumseh when he escaped Tuesday while being transported to a hospital.

Investigators traced a phone call McGuire made to his attorney Tuesday night to the university phone and were able to get video from a nearby camera.

Authorities say McGuire should be considered armed and dangerous. He was in prison for rape, robbery and kidnapping convictions in Douglas County.

Patrol Sergeant Jim Burns says the surveillance video shows a man authorities believe to be McGuire making a phone call at the Milo Bail Student Center at UNO. He was dressed in a light shirt, dark pants and a dark coat, which means McGuire had changed clothes. Authorities say he may also be wearing a light-colored stocking hat.
