The Nebraska Unicameral has spent almost the last week debating a casino gambling bill, and it appears the discussion will continue for some time.
The current bill would authorize the Legislature to allow for casinos in eight Nebraska locations. In an effort to gain more votes, some senators are suggesting lowering that number.
Lincoln Senator DiAnna Schimek says, "Some people are still uncomfortable with that higher number, so we will offer an amendment tomorrow which will...lower that number."
Schimek also says the amendment will also allow a county vote in any county in which a casino would be located. Schimek says there are enough votes to get the bill into the final reading stage. Thirty votes are needed to move out of final reading.
