The field of candidates for Lincoln Public School superintendent is now narrowed to four. Two of the candidates participated in a community forum on Monday.
Joan Reist has two grandchildren in LPS. She wants to make sure the new superintendent cares about the arts.
“I think it is important that we maintain it and expand it. So that every single child in Lincoln schools has the opportunity for arts education,” Reist said.
One student participated saying students should be invested in the search.
“I would like to see more of the new superintendent…I would like them to be more visible in the lives of everyday students,” said Northeast Junior Cody Stephenson.
One of the Candidates is David Benson. He has a PhD from K-State in Educational Administration. He is currently superintendent of the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, KS. Before that Benson served as Superintendent of Fort Madison, IA schools.
Mary Kamerzell has a PhD in Administration, Curriculum, and Instruction from UNL. She is currently superintendent for the Tucson, Arizona School District. Before that Kamerell served as the Superintendent of Gering, Nebraska Schools.
The two other candidates will participate in a community forum Tuesday evening.
