Lethal Injection

Members of Nebraska Against the Death Penalty gathered in the Capitol Tuesday to oppose to a bill (LB526) that would change the state's form of execution to lethal injection.

Nebraska is the only state with electrocution as its only means of execution.

Many lawmakers fear that it's just a matter of time before a court deems it cruel and unusual punishment.

If that happens, Nebraska would be left without a method of execution.

The bill is sponsored by Sen. Phil Erdman of Bayard.
