Soybean Spill

Nine hundred bushels of soybeans scattered across the road stopped traffic on US Highway 77 between Beatrice and Lincoln Thursday morning.

The truck carrying the beans was turning onto Highway 77 about 10:30 a.m. when the beans spilled into the northbound lane.

Sheriff's Deputy Joe Kubicek said the driver of the truck thought a fault in the electrical system may have caused the electric doors to open, allowing the beans to spill on the road.

One lane remained closed at noon as clean-up crews were still removing beans from the road.

No injuries were reported as a result of the spill.
