The Ashland Police Department says they seized approximately 150 pounds of marijuana late Wednesday night. The seizure is the largest marijuana seizure in the history of Saunders County.

According to a press release from the Ashland Police Department, an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction on Highway 6 in Ashland late Wednesday night.

With the assistance of the Saunders and Cass County Sheriff's office, officers confiscated approximately 150 pounds of marijuana that was located in duffle bags throughout the vehicle.

Three suspects were taken into custody and transported the Saunders County Department of Corrections. All were charged with possession with intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp.

The government is WASTING billions upon billions every year to fight the "drug war"! According to a 12 year university of Pittsburgh Pot is not a gateway drug contrary to popular belief so greg get your facts straight. http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/study-say-marijuana-no-gateway-drug-12116.html theres the link go check it out! And to the people that think marijuana is the devil go watch American Drug War the last white hope....If you give it a chance you will get a whole new prospective. open your minds

DB is a long-time advocate of alt-medicine. If it wasn't so serious I'd laugh at KETV who mis-reported that he is a "major player in the national marijuana trade." Many, many, many folks use herbs to self-medicate for depression & stress. All you people on prescriptions might give it a try.

Wow,once again the police nab the big bad drug dealers..really? How about all these meth and crack dealers who sell poison to kids? I believe the real criminals in the war on drugs, are the prescription drug dealers,(which is totally legal). How many people die every year because of THESE drugs?IMO,"weed" should be legal, the only reason it isn't is because it would reduce the BILLIONS in profits goin to these fat cats w/ drug companies, who's products,I might add,in most cases are doing more harm than good.Yes,I agree, the law is the law and I respect that, but thinking "weed" is a killer drug,do some research on the subject.Watching "Reefer Madness" from the 30's doesn't count.

FINALLY......OMG! Has Ashland police finally got this one right?? I HIGHLY DOUBT IT!!!!!!! They're famous for screwing up the easiest of cases! Anyway it's to bad that the driver even chose to drive through Ashland but he did. And what he does is NOT our business or problem. What people do in their spare time is their business. Pot-heads dont tell alcoholics not to drink. There's 4 bars in Ashland and only 2300 people? So what someone wants to smoke pot at least there not out there drunk and driving KILLING a family and themselves. Lets stop judging others and worry about ourselves and how clean our own back yard is before we tell someone how to live their life!

jeremy, who said anything about mexico or mexicans? that said ...i'll bet you that they WERE mexican, AND that they were stopped because they were profiled as: 1) latins 2) out-of-state. Further more they were probobly pulled over for a petty traffic violation and then forced to sit while a drug sniffing dog was summoned who upon arrival made some secret action like scrating his ear to 'indicate drugs are present'. All because they 'were acting suspiciously'. I'm tired of 'profiling'. Its wrong and inconsistant.

First off, I dont smoke weed or do any drug now nor have i ever. But I completely agree with Jeremy. And besides that, pot is the only "drug" that actually has health benefits. Like people with glaucoma. I know of people who have serious back problems and pot is the only thing that relaxes them enough to help with the pain. Thats better than getting addicted to Rx pills that do a lot more damage. And whats with the drug tax stamp?? like Really?? said - "...and no drug tax stamp. This is ridiculous! Like they're going to go in and say, "Hey, I've got 150 POUNDS OF POT. Can I get taxed for that please?" Just another stupid way for our government to make money." I personally think that the government would make plenty of money if they made pot legal. Even if they put a tax on it. What am I saying "even if they put a tax on it" of course they will put a tax on it. How bout the police start going after something that really needs to be taken care of,like coke or meth. Or illegal immigrants.

It's a toss up in my opinion. Since its illegal, gangs and organized crime from mexico pic up on it because its MEGA profit. You die if you cheat these people. Mafia throws tons of it across the border with no end in site. Its simple supply and demand. If it were legal to grow like making home brewed beer, nobody would be buying from criminals and the mafia and gangs would loose there footing with pot. I personally dont see any harm in puffin the stuff. The time for the crime of wanting to have a bag of weed in your pocket does more damage to families than consuming it. Remember when alcohol was illegal and now its not? We don't see Mexican beer being smuggled into the country by the mexican mofia now do we. FACT:pot was only made illegal from lies and propaganda that are still heard loud today.Like tax stamps. WATCH THE HISTORY CHANNEL. stop the violence and legalize it!!! We can even buy hemp but cant grow it.GEEZ perhaps we can even argue about the carbon foot print on fighting pot.

ex-cuse me.."weed" is illegal..using it doesn't justify it...it is the "gateway drug"..giving it away and selling are illegal..so don't..otherwise suck it up and suffer the consquences..simple as that..if you get caught...take ownership ...it's a choice...a dumb one at best..get caught and try to get a student loan...dah. so who is the dummy..

POT...A natual herb...Not addicting...Not mind alltering...And not one case ever involving a death from WEED!! I really wish they would stop trying to chase all this pot in their war on drugs!! Lets go after the meth and crack!! The stuff that is ruining our world and our children!!!!
