The damage at Calvert Elementary is gone, but the frustration over two recent break-ins discovered Sunday, September 27th lingers on. The first incident was discovered around 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

"Basically, we had two rooms that were entered, and we had glue on things, hand sanitizer lotions, a few notes spread around," Calvert Elementary Principal Michelle Suarez says.

It turns out, the vandals decided to make a return trip, as school officials found later that day.

"Sometime between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday evening, another vandalism occurred again," Suarez says. This time the damage was more widespread.

"We had additional hand sanitizer, lotion spread around, we had glue, we also had red magic marker on the walls with profanity and offensive words," Suarez says.

School officials say the vandals got in through a door that did not latch properly. Lincoln police are now looking for suspects. "Based upon the graffiti that was left inside the school leads us to believe its probably going to be a juvenile that probably has had some ties to the school in the past," LPD officer Tim Abele says.

Calvert Elementary isn't the only school to be targeted recently. In fact, at Parkview Christian School, authorities say someone took a large amount of money from the school's office. Police believe the crime occurred between 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22nd to Wednesday morning September 23rd. "There's no signs of forced entry, so we are not quite sure who might be involved. If it's a student, or somebody who has access to the office, we are not quite sure," Abele says.

"We are in a giving community," Parkview Christian School Superintendent Zach Kassebaum says. "The families are completely committed to Parkview Christian School, and it's something we will completely rebound from, but its definitely disheartening," Kassebaum says.

Both Parkview Christian and Calvert Elementary School officials would like to solve these cases. If you have any information, don't hesitate to call Crimestoppers at 475-3600.
