Lincoln Police identified 41 year-old David Hald as the man found in Holmes Lake.
Hald was reported missing on January 2, 2004. He was a resident of Our Homes, a place for mentally disabled people. When he didn’t show up to take his medication staff at the home filed a report.
“Just comes kind of as a shock to us that something like this would happen to such a quiet person,” said Courtney Hughes with Our Homes.
An autopsy was performed early Friday. However, Police Chief Tom Casady said the cause of his death is not yet known.
“We don’t have any reason to believe this is a homicide. On the other hand we can’t entirely rule that out. So we will continue our investigation about the circumstances and cause of Mr. Hald’s death,” said Casady.
Friends say Hald was visiting his girlfriend in the Thomas Brook Apartments near Holmes Lake just before he disappeared. He never caught the Star Tran bus back to his house.
