A 13-year-old is facing a charge of making terroristic threats after police say he threatened to shoot a school resource officer.
Police say the officer noticed the boy roaming the hallways of a northeast Omaha middle school on Friday. The officer says he tried to lead the boy to the school's administrative office, but the boy called the officer names and threatened to shoot him.
Police haven't released the boy's name. He was taken to a youth corrections center. A police spokeswoman said Tuesday he has since been released.
An Omaha Public Schools spokeswoman says the school is recommending the boy be reassigned to an alternative school.
The boy's mother said Tuesday she's disappointed and thinks her son spoke before thinking.
