A former Omaha middle school teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student seven years ago is facing new charges.
A mistrial was declared in July, after a jury deadlocked on whether 36-year-old Stephanie Draper committed first-degree sexual assault of a child.
On Thursday, prosecutors brought the same charge against her. They also added a sexual contact charge and attempted sexual assault of a child.
Draper is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy in 2002 when he was an eighth grader at the Millard school where she taught.
The now-21-year-old man, who says he was assaulted, told police he contacted Draper before reporting the assault and demanded $5,000 to keep quiet about the relationship.
Draper's trial is set for Dec. 8.
