Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old student at Malcolm Middle and High School after finding bomb materials and a rifle in his car parked ourside the school Tuesday.

Lancaster County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Bill Jarrett says the boy was taken into custody today for bringing explosives and a firearm onto school property and making terroristic threats.

Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said authorities isolated the area around the car. he said students are only being allowed to leave the school if their parents pick them up.

Wagner said his department received a call from the school just before 10 a.m. after the student told school authorities about the materials in his car.

Jarrett says the Nebraska State Patrol's bomb squad used a robot to inspect the vehicle, finding a rifle and containers of petroleum-based propellant and propane in the car.

Jarrett said the student is currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center in Lincoln. He has not been charged.
