A 17-year-old accused of bringing homemade bombs to school is charged with first-degree attempted murder.

Malcolm High School student, Joshua Magee, made his first appearance in court Wednesday. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he faces two other felony charges.

Tuesday, authorities found 20 explosive devices and a semi-automatic rifle in the trunk of his car outside Malcolm School.

Court documents released Wednesday say Joshua intended to have his principal lock down the school. Joshua said he would then detonate the bomb. He also said he would use the rifle as a last-resort on law enforcement.

The affidavit also states Magee is bi-polar, and he did not take his medication.

His bond is set at $500,000. The attempted murder charge carries a one to 50 year sentence if convicted.
