Senate Democrats are trying again this week to extend unemployment benefits.
Democrats are pushing a bill that would extend expiring benefits for 14 weeks in all states and an extra six weeks in states where unemployment is above 8 1/2 percent.
Unhappy with how Democrats' planned to pay for the extended benefits, Republicans refused to let the benefits extension move ahead via unanimous consent.
Democrats now indicate they're now open to Republican amendments. One to be offered would extend the tax credit for first time home-buyers, which is set to expire next month.
